Record audience for SOUP!

On Saturday January 12, Wells SOUP attracted the biggest audience in its history. More than 100 packed the Connect Centre to hear four more local good causes tell their story and go away with a cheque at the city’s grant-giving lunch.

Somerset Mind, who support people with mental health issues, Wells Macmillan Cancer Help Centre, Wells Lions Club, and a group campaigning to restore the Wells Millennium Tapestry to public view each made a compelling case for why the audience should support them.

The audience gave most votes to Wells Macmillan Cancer Support who went home with £350. The others each received £118.

Philip Welch, Wells Independent city councillor, thanked Chubb Bulleid for providing £350 match-funding, Café Twentyone for making the two choices of soup, Burns the Bread for the bread, Santé for the wine, Micky in Wells market for the table flowers, Morrisons the beer and soft drinks.
